Underseeded switchgrass left vs direct seeded right: John Kinghorn talks to Northumberland SCIA From John Kinghorn's October 3 John explains plots to Bio-fuel tour: Seeding rates on switchgrass Big blue stem has browned off Victoria SCIA Sprayer Day in July also showed demo of the grain entrapment rescue device provided by 4-H to the fire department Peterborough County Soil and Crop Association sponsored a bus tour August 11 to the City of Kawartha Lakes area farms.  We visited the Mariposa dairy goat operation and took a field trip through his edible bean crop.  Bruce VandenBerg, Lenberg Farms, explained the planting, spraying, harvesting and marketing of his crops.  Another stop was at Bruce McKeown's farm, where we saw his soybean processing and oil extracting machine.  The final stop was at Midnight Acres Inc. where host Joe Hickson gave us a tour and explanation of his soybean and oat test plots.  This interesting and educational tour was enjoyed by several county Soil and Crop members. Soybean Crusher at Bruce McKeown's: Joe Hickson talks to the group

East Central Scholarships ,
Criteria: Students living in the East Central area Durham, Haliburton, Peterborough, Victoria, York
- enrolled in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year at a post-secondary institution or an agricultural college.
Four scholarships in the amount of $1000 - selection takes into account academic performance,
leadership, contribution to community, involvement in rural youth organizations with emphasis on
conservation and environmental goals.
