Weather Data exchange September 2011
September Weather Data from Bill Arthur, South Perth County
For record comparison HU are compiled from May 10 to Sept 20
September was about average for heat but wet with 80mm more than average rainfall.
Only a few edible beans have been harvested and it was not because they were not mature.
I recorded some rain on 19 days in Sept., 50mm on the 4th, 36mm 19-20th.
With only a few fields of beans harvested there is little wheat planted.
There is also little silage off as fields are too soft and some of the late planted
corn is not ready to chop yet.
At least we missed any frost so corn is still green unless planted early.
Early planted corn here was planted around May 10-12 so has had a full season of HU.
The last corn was planted in early June and has had only 2725HU up to Sept 30th so
still needs a little more to have a full season.
Hoping for some nice warm sunny weather soon to dry beans, fields and corn.

September Weather Stats from Peter Stewart, S.E. Northumberland County
Historical rainfall data to August 30
It was a dry warm month. 33 mm of the monthly rainfall did not come until the 29th and 30th.
This has helped to drive the maturity of beans and corn. Frost experienced on the 16th and
17th were not killing. Most crops locally will make the cut, even the June planted corn.
Some beans have been harvested, but cloudy damp weather has slowed harvest. Most of the wheat
awaits planting, but what is planted is quite refreshed with the late month rain, as well as
the hay crops and cover crops.
